 The “Infantesmúsica” concert series concludes its 2026 season with “The Thousand and One Nights” performed by Camerata DaVinci, the choir formed during the festival, and a flamenco dance performance by María Canea

This weekend, the “Infantesmúsica” concert series came to a close in Villanueva de los Infantes, following an intense program that, since July 31, has featured a variety of performances of classical music, jazz, and flamenco, among other styles. Organized once again by the MUSINFA association and the Villanueva de los Infantes City Council, through the Department of Culture, this initiative has once again brought together established musicians and young performers with international potential at iconic venues within the town’s Historic-Artistic District in La Mancha.

Last Friday, the courtyard of the former Sagrado Corazón School—restored this summer as a new cultural and performance venue—hosted a concert by the Camerata DaVinci, featuring the symphonic poem “Scheherazade” by Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. Titled “The Thousand and One Nights,” this adaptation—arranged and conducted by Ferdinando Trematore—featured two special guests, two voices well-known to music lovers: Radio Clásica journalists Ana Casado and Martín Llade.

The two portrayed the characters of Scheherazade and Sultan Shahriar, respectively, in a narration of the stories from ‘One Thousand and One Nights’ adapted by Llade himself. Musically, Rimsky-Korsakov’s work was performed by Ferdinando Trematore (violin), Martina Alonso (violin), Noelia Gómez (viola), Stamen Nikolov (cello), Javier Martín (double bass), Eduardo Raimundo (clarinet), Rodrigo Martínez (percussion), and Angela Trematore (piano).

On Saturday, the “Infantesmúsica” Choir made its debut; this group was formed specifically for this edition of the concert series and has been one of this year’s main new features. Composed of professionals and amateurs from Villanueva de los Infantes and other towns in the region, the choir was conducted by Manuel Pacheco and featured soloists Isabel Ródenas and Rodrigo Navarro.

This initiative once again highlights “Infantesmúsica’s” strong commitment to local and regional talent, and their performance became one of the festival’s most special moments. This first recital, which took place at the “La Encarnación” Municipal Auditorium, was dedicated to the French composer Gabriel Fauré and included performances of his “Requiem” in D minor and the “Cantique de Jean Racine.”

As the grand finale of this edition of “Infantesmúsica,” flamenco dance took center stage for the first time in the Villanueva de los Infantes concert series with the show “Flor de romero” on Sunday night. Once again at the Antiguo Colegio Sagrado Corazón, dancer María Canea took the stage to present a journey through the most profound styles of flamenco, highlighting the richness and diversity of this art form.

The performance also brought together top-tier artists in guitar and singing, including Juan de la María and Jonathan Reyes (vocals) and Luis Medina (guitar).  Combining passion and technique, the three artists immersed the audience in a vibrant and emotional atmosphere that paid tribute to the flamenco tradition and served as the grand finale to this edition of the “Infantesmúsica” concert series.
