The Villanueva de los Infantes City Council will expand the Villanueva de los Infantes Interpretation Center (CIVI) with a section dedicated to the Renaissance, the Baroque period, and subsequent centuries

Local historian Carlos Javier Rubio has presented the City Council with a new project to complete the conversion of the upper floor of the Casa de Rueda into a museum, continuing the work of the Villanueva de los Infantes Interpretation Center (CIVI), which began in 2023 with the archaeology section curated by Pedro R. Moya.

The proposal will extend the existing historical exhibition—which currently covers the period up to the Middle Ages—to include key periods such as the Renaissance, the Baroque era, and subsequent centuries, all the way up to the present day.

The planned exhibits will include various interpretive panels, with special attention to aspects such as the heraldry of Villanueva de los Infantes, as well as a large diorama that will offer a bird’s-eye view of the town and allow visitors to identify its main buildings, spaces, traditions, and historical features, while also incorporating representations of some interiors.

The tour will also feature a section dedicated to the town’s transformation over time, comparing old and current photographs of its main monuments and urban spaces.

Mayor Carmen María Montalbán stated that “the municipal government will study this project in detail with the goal of integrating it into the Casa de Rueda as soon as possible, and to continue making progress in creating spaces that allow us to learn about, appreciate, and enjoy our history, our traditions, our heritage, and our identity.”

“We want the Casa de Rueda to increasingly become a museum of Infantes and for Infantes, where we can learn about our origins, recognize ourselves in our history, and, at the same time, share it with our visitors,” she noted.

The goal is for visitors to gain a comprehensive view of the town, its past, and its present, through an engaging and educational exploration of its history, heritage, traditions, and the evolution that has shaped the Villanueva de los Infantes we know today.
