The Morella City Council illuminates the towers and the Sant Miquel gateway

Morella is unveiling new decorative lighting at the city’s main entrance, which will remain in operation every day of the year starting today. This new initiative creates a new tourist attraction while enhancing the most important and heavily trafficked entrance to Morella, which previously lay in darkness on days when the decorative lighting on the city walls was not in operation and went unnoticed during those times.
In addition, the cross featuring the three crowned heads—which is now also illuminated—is given the prominence it deserves.
This installation marks the completion of the renovation of the Sant Miquel entrance, following construction work that transformed and enhanced the entire pavement—work that began in May 2025 and was completed in December of the same year.
The project cost 18,000 euros, which was fully funded by a 100% grant from IVACE, and its entire installation—both during construction and afterward—was made possible thanks to the work of municipal employees, the supplier company, and the technical team in charge.
An expansion of the lighting on the east facade of the tower—which was not initially installed—is currently under consideration.
