HITA (GUADALAJARA). The project to revive the “Camino del Arcipreste de Hita” described in his universal Libro de buen amor has taken a definitive step forward. On Saturday, October 17, the organizing committee of the Camino del Arcipreste met in the Alcarrian town to map out the official itinerary and lay the legal foundations for an ambitious historical, literary, and tourist route that will connect Guadalajara, Segovia, and Madrid.

The meeting, key to the future of the project, served to agree that the provincial councils involved will design the statutes of the future association, whose presidency will be held on a rotating basis. The central objective is clear: to protect, revitalize, and promote tourism in all the municipalities included in this medieval literary map.

The day was marked by technical rigor and institutional collaboration. Celeste García and Lara Vilar, professors of Geology, Geography, and Environment at the University of Alcalá (UAH), presented an exhaustive research paper to the attendees, which has served to officially delimit the municipalities that will make up the route.

The committee approved a series of measures to bring the route to life: creation of the official logo for the Camino, development of promotional material, collaboration with the University of Alcalá Foundation, organization of medieval gastronomy days, and special activities for the 700th anniversary of the Libro de buen amor.

The meeting was attended by mayors, councilors, and prominent figures from the provinces involved. Representing Guadalajara and the host town were Elena Cañeque (Deputy for Tourism and Mayor of Humanes), Ignacio Ayuso (Mayor of Hita), Eva Garrido (Councilor for Culture), Ángel Trillo (Chronicler of Hita), and the Provincial Chronicler, Antonio Herrera Casado.

On behalf of the Segovian delegation, Fuensanta de la Calle and María Allas (Mayor and Councilor of Otero de Herreros, the municipality that hosted the first meeting) were present, along with Jose Luis Herguedas (President of the Centro Segoviano and the driving force behind this project). Soraya García, director of the Cátedra Arcipreste, the institution that will assume the technical secretariat, also participated in the meeting.

The committee has set its next major meeting for April 2027, an event that will be held at the University of Alcalá and will serve to consolidate the progress of this new cultural axis.
