15 Oct 2026 · 21:20
From October 20 to 24, the Almagro Municipal Theater will become the epicenter of poetry with the 40th Poetry Festival, a five-day event that brings together poets, musicians, and flamenco singers for a varied program with free admission until capacity is reached.
The 40th edition kicks off on Tuesday, October 20, at 8:00 p.m. with a poetry-and-music recital by poet Aurora Luque, winner of the National Poetry Prize, accompanied by José Corrales Díaz-Pavón and the Belcorde Duo.
On Wednesday, the 21st, the series continues with “The Disappearance of the Fireflies,” a poetry-and-music recital by the group El Naán Dúo, also at 8:00 p.m.
On Thursday, the 22nd, there will be a double feature: in the morning, facilitator Aldo Méndez will present the poetry recital “Más que palabras” (More Than Words), aimed at high school students; and at 8:30 p.m., the Almagro Music Band Association will present the recital-concert “¿Qué nos canta la Zarzuela?” (What Does the Zarzuela Sing to Us?).
Friday, the 23rd, is partly dedicated to the youngest audience members: at 12:00 p.m., the Veleta Roja Cultural Association will present the children’s poetry and music recital “Cantar y contar todo es empezar” (Singing and Telling Stories Is the Beginning), designed for 2nd- and 3rd-grade elementary students. Later that evening, at 8:30 p.m., flamenco singer Gregorio Moya will bring the festival to a close with “La poesía del flamenco.”
The event concludes on Saturday, the 24th, at 8:30 p.m. with a recital-concert by singer Anni B Sweet.
All activities will take place at the Almagro Municipal Theater with free admission until capacity is reached, as part of a program that solidifies Almagro’s status as a leading center for poetry in Castilla-La Mancha.
