Evento: 16 Oct 2026 — 17 Oct 2026
The program will kick off on Friday, October 16, at 7:00 p.m. with the talk “Stories of Picaos and Agujillas. Lace Veils for Santa María del Campo de Calatrava,” presented by María Jesús de Toro Calzado, which will take place at the National Museum of Performing Arts.
Saturday, October 17, will begin at 10:00 a.m. with lace-makers gathering in Almagro’s Plaza Mayor—one of the event’s highlights and an opportunity to enjoy this artisanal tradition right in the heart of the city.
The event will continue at the National Museum of Performing Arts, where the closing ceremony will feature the activity “ET VOILÀ! The Complex Process of Creating a Costume,” led by Rosa García Andújar.
In the afternoon, at 6:00 p.m., the guided tour “Between Threads and Stages: Discovering Almagro Through Bobbin Lace,” led by Olga Alarcón, will take place, offering a chance to explore the town from the perspective of this artisanal tradition.
In addition, on October 17 and 18, admission to the Lace Museum will be free, and it will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Those interested in participating can register from September 14 through October 9 by emailing encuentrodeencajeras@almagro.es.
This new edition of the event highlights bobbin lace as cultural heritage, a tradition, and an expression of popular culture, once again establishing Almagro as a leading destination for lace makers from across the country.
