19th Negreira Romanesque Fair

For three days, the town of Negreira dresses up to celebrate a historical reenactment festival that transports us back to the 13th century, when the troubadour Afonso Eanes do Cotón—one of the most important figures at the court of Alfonso X the Wise—lived.

He took part in the Reconquista campaigns led by Ferdinand III, traveled much of the French Way, and was killed by another minstrel, “Pero da Ponte,” in Salamanca.
