On July 17 and 18, Olivenza will host the first edition of the โCiudad de Olivenzaโ Band Festival, an initiative organized by the Olivenza Philharmonic, in collaboration with the City Council, created with the goal of promoting cultural exchange among musical groups and bringing band music to residents and visitors.
The guest band will be the Lleida Municipal Band, conducted by Amadeu Urrea Pรฉrez. Their participation stems from the Olivenza Philharmonicโs visit last summer to the festival organized by the Catalan ensemble. That experience gave rise to a close friendship that is now taking shape with the visit of the musicians from Lleida to Olivenza, where they hope to experience firsthand the cityโs heritage, culture, and unique identity.
The program will begin on Friday, July 17, at 9:30 p.m., with a free concert by the Lleida Municipal Band at the Municipal Auditorium. The ensemble will perform a varied repertoire featuring works from different styles and eras.
On Saturday, July 18, at 10:30 a.m., both bands will lead a parade through the streets of Olivenza. The Lleida Municipal Band will set off from Paseo de La Filarmรณnica, while the Olivenza Philharmonic will depart from its headquarters on Santa Engracia Street. The two routes will converge in front of City Hall.
As the grand finale of the festival, the Olivenza Philharmonic, conducted by Juan Beltrรกn Silva Suรกrez, will present on Saturday at 9:30 p.m. a new edition of โMitos de la Mรบsica,โ a show that will revisit the greatest hits of the โ80s, โ90s, and 2000s with a repertoire that will include songs by artists such as Bon Jovi and the Extremadura-based group Sanguijuelas del Guadiana, among others.
Tickets for this concert cost 5 euros and can be purchased in advance at Saudentia, Tienda Nueva, Teterรญa Mahdi, Peluquerรญa M'Men, and Alimentaciรณn Milleiro.
