The 5th “Luis Molina” National Amateur Classical Theater Competition has now announced the groups that will compete for the top prizes.
Its goal remains the dissemination and promotion of classical theater among amateur groups, highlighting the dramatic legacy of the Spanish Renaissance, Baroque, and Romantic periods, with special attention to the authors of the Golden Age.
The program will begin on Thursday, September 3, at 9:00 p.m., with a non-competitive performance by the guest group El Duende de Lerma, from Burgos, which will present “El Lazarillo de Tormes,” an adaptation by Fernando Fernán Gómez of the anonymous text.
The competition will kick off on Friday, September 4, at 9:30 p.m., with Citra Teatro from Tomelloso, which will stage “La moza de cántaro” by Lope de Vega. On Saturday, September 5, also at 9:30 p.m., it will be the turn of Carpe Diem Teatro, also from Tomelloso, with “Pasión por Carmen,” inspired by the work of Prosper Mérimée. The competition will conclude on Sunday, September 6, at 9:00 p.m., with Teatro Arcón de Olid from Valladolid performing “Casa con dos puertas, mala es de guardar” by Calderón de la Barca.
Tickets will be available starting August 12 at the Corral de Comedias.
