5th Spanish Sheepdog Working Championship

On October 17 and 18, Valderrobres will once again become a gathering place for professionals and enthusiasts of the world of herding with the celebration of the 5th Spanish Sheepdog Working Championship (CAtPE).

For the fifth consecutive year, the town will host this event, which offers a close-up look at the collaborative work between the shepherd and his dog in managing the flock and highlights a practice closely linked to extensive livestock farming and the rural environment.

Throughout the weekend, various trials will take place in which the dogs must herd and control the flock by following their handlers’ instructions and completing the designated courses. This is an opportunity to witness the precision, intelligence, and coordination required for a job that remains part of daily life on many livestock farms.

The championship has become a well-established event in Valderrobres centered on the world of herding; in previous editions, it has brought together participants from across Spain and introduced this activity to both industry professionals and the general public interested in learning more about it.
