Don Gil de las calzas verdes is a Spanish Golden Age classic that continues to resonate strongly in our time.
This play, written in the 17th century, is much more than a comedy of errors; it is a celebration of wit and female power, values that today, more than ever, we need to recognize and champion on stage.
NO HAY BURLAS CON EL AMOR

In the comedy of errors "No hay burlas con el amor" by Calderón de la Barca, the secret relationship between Don Juan and Doña Leonor is threatened by the strict social conventions of the time.
For their love to flourish, Doña Leonor, the younger sister, must wait for her older sister, Beatriz, to get married.
However, Beatriz, a scholar with a pedantic character, avoids commitment and uses an artificial language that makes her undesirable to suitors.
When Beatriz discovers the lovers and the young women's father begins to suspect the existence of a clandestine suitor, Don Juan and Doña Leonor devise an ingenious plan: to make everyone believe that it is Beatriz who is having a secret romance.
To do this, they involve Don Alonso, who is chosen to pose as the supposed lover.
After a series of misunderstandings, entanglements, and funny confusions, fate intervenes and Don Alonso and Doña Beatriz end up, against all odds, falling in love. This unexpected union not only solves all the plot's problems but leads to a happy ending for all the characters.

La dama boba, finished on April 28, 1613, is a play belonging to the genre of comedies of errors that poses the recurring and revisited comic game between love and reason, typical of both the Golden Age and its great author Lope de Vega.
PATRAÑAS CERVANTINAS

October 4th - 6:30 PM.
A troupe of actors arrives with their cart loaded with stories, verses, masks, and music. Based on texts by Cervantes and other great authors of the Golden Age, the show links short plays, songs, poems, dances, clown acts, Commedia dell'Arte, and moments of audience participation. Everything is mixed with spontaneity and rhythm to speak to the 21st-century audience in a direct, festive, and accessible language.
Quasiclasics was born from the stage complicity of Daniel Llull and Jesús Teyssiere, two professionals with extensive experience in classical theatre, comedy, improvisation, and stage creation. Their goal is to return to classical texts their status as a celebration, provocation, and closeness.
Patrañas cervantinas was included in the 25th edition of Clásicos en Alcalá, one of the main festivals specializing in the Golden Age.
