San Martiñu, patron saint festival of San Martín de Trevejo

03 Nov 2026 · 16:27

Evento: 11 Nov 2026 — 12 Nov 2026

On 11 and 12 November 2026, San Martín de Trevejo (Cáceres), one of Los Pueblos Más Bonitos de España, will celebrate its traditional patron saint festivities in honour of Saint Martin of Tours, popularly known as San Martiñu.

This festivity, deeply rooted in the cultural identity of the Sierra de Gata, combines religious rites, gastronomy and popular traditions. The programme includes a solemn Mass, procession, romería and verbena, bringing together residents and visitors in an atmosphere of celebration and community.

One of the most special moments is the opening of the boigas or pichorras, the traditional wine cellars where the wine from the last grape harvest is tasted, accompanied by typical products such as cured meats and chestnuts. A custom reflected in the local saying in mañegu: «Por San Martiñu se proban os viñus».
