Pampaneira will be one of the venues of the Circuito Provincial de Ajedrez de Granada, a competition that will bring together players of all ages and levels from different parts of the province. The event will take place on the upcoming 8 de noviembre, making the village a meeting point for chess enthusiasts and sportspeople in a day that will combine competition, community life and the promotion of the territory.
Hosting this event is a new opportunity for Pampaneira to keep consolidating itself as a setting for sporting and cultural activities that help bring life to the village and attract visitors throughout the year.
The mayor of Pampaneira, Ángel Pérez, has spoken very positively about the village being part of the provincial calendar and has highlighted that "for our Town Council it is a source of satisfaction to host a competition of this kind, which promotes values such as effort, discipline, respect and community life, especially among the young".
The mayor has also pointed out that sport is a fundamental tool for strengthening the social fabric of villages and has stressed the importance of bringing this type of initiative to rural areas. "We want Pampaneira to remain a benchmark in organising activities that bring life to the village and offer new opportunities to enjoy our surroundings and our heritage", he has stated.
Ángel Pérez has also highlighted the impact the event will have on the local economy. "Every sporting event is an opportunity for those who visit us to get to know our village, enjoy its gastronomy, its shops and the hospitality of our neighbours. It is a way of continuing to promote Pampaneira as a quality destination throughout the year".
The Town Council has thanked the Diputación de Granada for choosing Pampaneira as one of the circuit's venues and has expressed the municipal commitment to collaborate in organising a day that will bring together players, families and enthusiasts in one of the most representative settings of the Alpujarra.
