Nuevo Baztán is celebrating its 303rd anniversary with the Founding Festivities!

On October 10, 11, and 12, we will be holding a celebration in our town. We will be commemorating the founding of the Parish of Nuevo Baztán in honor of St. Francis Xavier. Saturday, October 10

11:00 a.m. Opening of the Palacio Market and “Paint Your Palacio” workshop with Antonio Español.

11:30 a.m. Guided tour of the Historic District and street theater performance “The Plague Doctors.”

12:30 p.m. Interactive theater performance “The Treasure Hunt.”

2:00 p.m. Potato and chistorra tasting in the Plaza de la Iglesia.

5:00 p.m. Parade of musicians and nobles.

8:00 p.m. Interactive children’s battle.

9:00 p.m. Fire show and community queimada.

Sunday, the 11th

11:00 a.m. Welcome parade and market opening.

12:00 p.m. Dramatized guided tour of the Torture Exhibition.

12:30 p.m. Solemn Mass for the 303rd anniversary at the Church of San Francisco Javier.

2:00 p.m. Migas tasting, hosted by the Senior Center.

5:00 p.m. Parade of musicians and street procession.

6:00 p.m. Puppet show: “The Fairy of the Cave.”

9:00 p.m. Fire show and community queimada.

Monday, the 12th

11:00 a.m. Market opens; workshops, children’s attractions, and exhibits.

11:30 a.m. Dramatized guided tour of the Spanish Military Camp.

12:00 p.m. Puppet show.

1:00 p.m. Live music and participatory period dance workshop.

2:00 p.m. Street theater. Interactive children’s battle.

3:00 p.m. Farewell parade with period music and dances.
