1st Music and Heritage Series - Ventus Trio

Ventus Trío will perform as part of this concert series at the Church of San Francisco, which originally belonged to the convent founded by Don Jerónimo de Ávila y de la Cueva, dedicated to Saint Catherine, martyr and virgin, in memory of his late wife, Doña Catalina de Sanabria.
This convent, attributed to Nicolás Vergara el Mozo, dates from the 17th century and is a clear example of Renaissance convent architecture from the Toledo School, as simple as dictated by the canons of the Franciscan Order.
Today, the convent has been converted into a Parador Nacional de Turismo, while the church, dedicated to Saint Francis, is run by the Secular Franciscan Order, continuing the work begun more than 350 years ago.
