Halloween and *Tenorio* in Valverde

The Night of the Souls had a special character in Valverde, as it coincided with the “machorra” festival, during which the young men would gather for a dinner and accompany the sacristan as he rang the alarm bells. And, of course, there were plenty of lit pumpkins and prayers for the dead. In recent years, other activities related to Halloween traditions (haunted houses, decorated facades, and masks...) have been incorporated, along with theatrical performances typical of the season: *Monte de Ánimas*, *Don Juan Tenorio*... A weekend to remember in the villages renowned for their “black architecture.”
