"Toma castañas!" Festival in Zarzuela de Galve

For the past twelve years, the “¡Toma castañas!” festival has been held in Zarzuela de Galve, a hamlet of Valverde. Organized by the “Viajando por los pueblos negros” Association, this event recreates the “magosto” tradition found in many towns in northern Spain. Amid lush autumn scenery, visitors can enjoy walks through chestnut and oak groves, demonstrations of blacksmithing and traditional baking, chestnut tree planting, food tastings, traditional music, and a heartfelt tribute to those who fought the fire during last summer’s blaze.
