Evento: 12 Aug 2026

Sos del Rey Católico commemorates the solar eclipse on August 12 with the unveiling of a commemorative obelisk

On August 12, Sos del Rey Católico, one of Spain’s Most Beautiful Towns, will celebrate a very special day to mark the solar eclipse that will be visible that day, making the town one of the best places to experience this astronomical event.

As the main event of the morning, at 12:00 p.m., a commemorative truncated obelisk will be unveiled in the Plaza de la Villa—a monument that will forever commemorate this extraordinary event and its connection to the history and heritage of the medieval town.

The program will continue in the evening with an event for people of all ages. At 10:00 p.m., the Frontón Municipal will host a modern dance masterclass, organized by the Sos del Rey Católico City Council—an activity designed to foster a festive and participatory atmosphere.

This is a unique opportunity to discover the charm of Sos del Rey Católico, stroll through its history-rich streets, and experience a day where heritage, science, and leisure come together in one of the most iconic towns in the “Most Beautiful Towns of Spain” network.
