Next Wednesday, August 12, 2026, Tejeda will host a special solar eclipse viewing event organized by the Elder Museum of Science and Technology, as part of an initiative that will take place simultaneously across all the Canary Islands.

Throughout the day, residents and visitors will be able to follow the progression of this astronomical phenomenon accompanied by specialized educators, who will explain the different phases of the eclipse and ensure safe viewing. In addition, certified solar viewing glasses will be distributed free of charge.

The event will take place on Dr. Domingo Hernández Guerra Street from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The moment of maximum solar occultation in Tejeda is expected around 7:54 p.m., making the afternoon a unique opportunity to enjoy and learn about one of the most significant astronomical phenomena of the coming years.

The Elder Museum reminds everyone that the Sun should never be viewed directly without proper protection, as this can cause serious eye damage. Therefore, during the event, recommendations and appropriate equipment will be provided so that everyone can enjoy the eclipse in complete safety.

The Tejeda City Council encourages all residents to participate in this scientific and educational event, designed to be shared with the family and to enjoy a unique experience gazing at the sky from one of the most spectacular locations on Gran Canaria.
