The Day of Our Lady of Mount Carmel begins with a Mass at the former collegiate church of Santa María la Mayor. In the afternoon, kicking off the annual bullfighting events, the “toro de soga” (rope bull) is paraded through the streets, followed by the procession and the “Salve” to the Virgin of Carmen; later that night, a “toro embolado” (fire-balled bull) is paraded, followed by a popular street festival at the sports complex.
On the eve of the festival, July 15, the young men of the current draft class are in charge of carrying the lantern through the streets of Rubielos, accompanied by the marching band playing processional songs.
