Jota of Santa Ana
The Jota de Santa Ana is the traditional dance of Linares de Mora, a treasure of the folklore of the Sierra de Gúdar that is still performed during the town’s patron saint festivities.
The Jota de Santa Ana is the ultimate expression of the folklore and identity of Linares de Mora. Originating as a folk dance that brought the entire town together every July 26, this gem preserves the elegance and essence of the ancient dances of the Sierra de Gúdar. Following a meticulous restoration effort to save it from oblivion at the end of the last century, it is now a symbol of pride that unites all generations in the municipality.
Today, this intangible cultural heritage remains very much alive. Year after year, the Virgen del Loreto Folklore Association takes charge of showcasing the traditional costumes and keeping the traditional choreography alive, while the Santa Ana Marching Band provides the musical accompaniment. Together, they ensure that, during the festivities, the music and dance come together to create a spectacle that captivates both residents and visitors.
