The museum is located in the town’s old oven, built in 1378 thanks to a royal privilege: it was King Pere IV “the Ceremonious” himself who granted the land to the residents of Alpuente so they could build an oven for baking bread.

It was a communal Moorish-style oven that operated continuously for centuries, feeding generations of Alpuente residents until the last third of the 20th century.
