Trends, Rankings, and Contests
Find out what's trending in the Community, check out the photo and photographer rankings, and learn how contests with a jury and a people's choice award work.
After sharing a photo in the Community, the natural question is what’s trending and how to participate in a challenge. On “Los Pueblos Más Bonitos de España ,” the Trending, Ranking, and Contests tabs organize this content without turning the feed into a black box.
Three Ways to Browse the Same Community
On /community, you can switch tabs: Trending reorders the posts you’re already seeing; Ranking groups reactions by time periods; Contests takes you to challenges with rules, phases, and results. These don’t replace G25, which explains how to post and react.
The same set of posts from the feed, sorted by reactions.
Most-liked photos and top photographers: this month or all-time.
Contests with registration, finalists, voting, and jury decisions.
The most liked photos in the set you’re viewing
Trending doesn’t measure popularity across the entire network. It takes the set of photos already loaded in the feed and sorts them by number of reactions. This lets you see, at a glance, which of the recent photos in front of you are getting the most likes. You still need an account to view the full feed.
Most Popular Photos and Top Photographers
The ranking has two views: This Month and All-Time. It lists the photos with the most reactions and, next to them, the top photographers. The “This Month” period filters by the date the photo was uploaded; the counter tallies all reactions to the post, not just one type. If a month doesn’t yet have any new photos with reactions, you’ll see an empty status: in that case, the “Historical” view is the one to use.
Contests with rules, phases, and judging
Contests are located in /contests and on the Community Contests tab. When a contest is open, you submit your photo, accept the rules, and follow the stages: registration, selection of finalists, public voting, and judging. The result combines the jury prize (administration’s decision) and the people’s choice prize (votes on finalists). This is not a Club raffle: that’s explained in G27.
- Participation is open to registered accounts when the contest allows it.
- By default, a non-Club member can submit fewer entries than a Club member.
- The exact limits are set by each contest (they’re usually listed on the contest page).
- Club membership provides more opportunities; it’s not the only way to enter.
What this page does not promise
- Trending does not sort all photos from the community at once.
- The winner of a contest isn’t determined solely by reactions in the feed.
- Rankings and contests do not require membership to view or, when applicable, to enter.
- It does not replace G25 (uploading and reacting) or G27 (Club giveaways).
- It does not claim that a photo or a vote proves you were in town.
Common Questions
Does “Trending” show the most popular content across the entire network?
No. It reorders the set of photos in your feed based on the reactions they’ve received.
Does the monthly ranking count reactions received this month?
It filters photos uploaded starting on the 1st of the calendar month and ranks them by total reactions.
Who chooses the winner of a contest?
There’s a jury prize (administered by the platform) and a people’s choice prize (votes on finalists). Simply reacting to posts in the feed isn’t enough.
Do members have an advantage?
Yes, in terms of the number of entries, when the contest specifies this. The Community and contests are not exclusive to the Club.
Is a contest the same as a giveaway?
No. Contests are photography challenges with rules and stages. Club-exclusive giveaways are explained in G27.
Do I need an account to view the rankings or trending section?
Yes, for the full feed and these tabs. Without logging in, you’ll only see a limited public preview.
