June 6, return to Spanish sovereignty

On this day 225 years ago, the Treaty of Badajoz was signed, returning Olivenza to Spanish sovereignty. We became Spanish once again, yet we have never forgotten our Portuguese past, of which the people of Olivenza are very proud and which makes our town unique. A past we can enjoy through our vast architectural heritage, our traditions, our cuisine, and even our language.
