Tower of San Miguel (XI century)

Tower of San Miguel (XI century)

The Tower of San Miguel, built in the 11th century, is one of the most singular Lombard Romanesque emblems of the province. With its elegant verticality and constructive sobriety, it stands as a witness of the medieval past of Yanguas. Its silhouette, visible from different points of the valley, denotes its defensive and spiritual function. It is one of the few examples in Soria of this architectural style, characterized by the use of blind arches, lesenas and friezes that embellish its robust stone structure.

Doors of the Villa River

The River Gates are one of the most evocative vestiges of the medieval wall that protected the town of Yanguas. These ancient entrances, now open to visitors, take us back to the times of knights and strategic defenses. They flanked the passage to the river and were part of the walled enclosure that protected the town. Strolling through its stone arches allows us to imagine the daily life of a remote past and to understand the importance of this Soria enclave as a defensive bastion in the Middle Ages.

Urban core

The old town of Yanguas, with its narrow streets, buildings of ashlar, masonry, mud and wooden entra-mados, is a living testimony of its medieval history. The emblazoned manor houses, the Plaza Mayor, the old laundry and the 18th century Town Hall make up a monumental ensemble declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1993.

Castle (12th century)

The castle of Yanguas, built in the 12th century, is a fortress of Muslim origin that stands out for its medieval architectural features. Built with rammed earth, it preserves sections of wall and towers that reflect the defensive techniques of the time. Although today only partial remains are preserved, its silhouette continues to dominate the landscape, recalling the strategic importance of the town in the past. Silent witness of centuries of history, this castle is an essential part of the cultural heritage of Yanguas and continues to fascinate visitors.
