Hermitage of Santa Maria Magdalena

Located on the outskirts of Viniegra de Arriba, in an environment of great serenity and natural beauty, the Hermitage of Santa María Magdalena is one of the most emblematic enclaves of the village. It stands on a promontory from which there is a spectacular view of the Urbión river valley and the mountains that embrace this Riojan village. Of medieval origin, this small rural hermitage has been for centuries a place of pilgrimage and spiritual encounter for the inhabitants of the area. Its architecture is simple, with a single nave, and stands out for its harmonious integration with the landscape. Inside is preserved an image of Santa María Magdalena that is carried in procession during local festivities. The visit to this hermitage not only allows to know an essential element of the religious heritage of the village, but also to enjoy a walk among oak trees, meadows and pastures that bear witness to the livestock and transhumant soul of Viniegra de Arriba. Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, Viniegra de arriba

Located in the heart of Viniegra de Arriba, the Church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción is the main religious temple of the municipality and one of the heritage jewels of the Rioja mountains. Built between the 16th and 17th centuries, it is a magnificent example of Renaissance style with later Baroque elements. Its imposing ashlar façade and solid bell tower dominate the profile of the village. In the interior, with a Latin cross plan, valuable altarpieces are preserved, highlighting the main altar, which houses the image of the Virgin of the Assumption, patron saint of the town. The ribbed vaults, the semicircular arches and the religious carvings give a solemn and monumental character to the whole. This church has been for centuries the center of the religious and social life of the Viniegrenses. The main festivities of the town, such as the Assumption (August 15) and other deeply rooted traditions are celebrated around it. Practical information: Location: Main square of Viniegra de Arriba. 3 Spouts Fountain

Fountain of the Three Spouts (Viniegra de Arriba) In the heart of Viniegra de Arriba, the Fuente de los Tres Caños is one of the most representative corners of the village. Built in stone, this traditional fountain is located next to the fronton and next to the Town Hall, and stands out for its three metal spouts that pour fresh water from the springs of the mountains. It is a symbol of the local ethnographic heritage, a meeting point and an obligatory stop for neighbors and visitors. The fountain preserves its original structure and is perfectly integrated into the urban environment of this picturesque village in La Rioja, certified as one of The Most Beautiful Villages of Spain in 2019.
