The Hermitage of San Miguel, Vilafamés

In the direction of San Juan de Moró and five kilometers from Vilafamés, on the slope of Monte Mollet is located the hermitage dedicated to the local patron saint San Miguel. It is accessed through a forest track. The construction of the hermitage is due to the pious foundation of Pere Albella, who established in his will that part of his property be sold for the construction of a hermitage, establishing the town council as administrators of the same. It is a simple construction dating from 1640 with a wide facade with windows and a spacious porch with arcades. It is structured in two parts, the religious, with a rectangular room for the cult with high choir in the feet and lateral sacristy, and hospedería for hermit and masoveros. In front of the building there is a large square and at a short distance a spring. The area where the hermitage is located has been declared a Municipal Natural Site by the regional government.
