Vilafamés: A Journey into the History and Charm of the Red Village

The castle, whose origins date back to the 13th century, reflects centuries of history through its successive reforms. The Church of the Assumption, built in the sixteenth century and renovated in the eighteenth century, is a magnificent example of Renaissance architecture in Vilafamés. Inside, the main altarpiece stands out, of great artistic value, along with a baroque organ that enriches the solemnity of the temple. It also houses pieces of gold and silverware from the 18th century, authentic patrimonial jewels that reinforce the cultural and spiritual relevance of this space, which has become a historical reference of the town.

The historic center, built between the fourteenth and sixteenth centuries, preserves the medieval essence in an intramural layout of cobbled streets that invite you to stroll. Among its architectural gems is the Casa de la Villa, an example of the solidity and elegance of ashlar stone. In 2005, the complex was recognized as an Asset of Cultural Interest in the category of Historic-Artistic Ensemble, reaffirming its heritage value and becoming a symbol of local identity.

The Church of the Blood, built in the thirteenth century and renovated in the seventeenth century, was the first Christian temple of Vilafamés and retains a deep historical and spiritual value. Inside, several baroque altarpieces from the 17th and 18th centuries stand out, whose rich ornamentation gives a solemn and artistic air to the whole.
