Sanctuary of Santa María de Ujué

Sanctuary of Santa María de Ujué

Church-fortress built between the eleventh and fourteenth centuries (Romanesque and Gothic). National Monument since 1936. Crenellated towers of Cuatro Vientos and Los Picos, walkways and Gothic south portal with ten archivolts. Inside, the Virgin of Ujué (Romanesque carving s. XII lined in silver) and the heart of Charles II the Bad.

Gothic façade of the 14th century considered a masterpiece. Ten archivolts decorated with scenes of the grape harvest and the life of Jesus; tympanum with the Last Supper and the Adoration of the Magi.
