The Tejeda Medicinal Plants Center is a 5,000 m2 space designed to recover and disseminate the close relationship between man and nature through the medicinal use of plants, remedies and beliefs. Many people have collaborated in its design, from botanists to shepherds, anthropologists, geographers, doctors, historians, chemists, etc., which makes it a center that arouses curiosity, interest and encourages interaction with visitors. Its subject matter makes it the only one in the Canary Islands in this field and one of the few in Spain dedicated to the dissemination of plants as natural medicine. In its Exhibition Hall we can learn about the different natural medicinal remedies: the plants, their origin, their function in society, the contribution of women in traditional medicine, etc. At the same time we can appreciate some of Tejeda's own products that have very beneficial effects for our health, such as Bitter Almond Oil or Honey from the Summit. In the Multipurpose Room you can do different activities: consult bibliography on medicinal flora and deepen your knowledge by browsing from the public Internet access point set up for this purpose, as well as enjoy a tea in the small cafeteria of the center. Outside you can visit the Interpretive Garden, conceived as a resting place where you can contemplate the plants in their natural state, grouped in flowerbeds according to their uses and properties.
