POI
In the beautiful valley of Valdediós, stands the small but majestic church of San Salvador, an authentic jewel of Asturian Pre-Romanesque Art.
Popularly known as "El Conventín", it was ordered to be built by King Alfonso III "The Great" who chose this bucolic place for his retirement.
A few meters away stands the Monastery of Santa Maria de Valdediós which was founded in 1200 by King Alfonso IX of Leon and Berenguela of Castile. The Church of Santa María is considered an outstanding example of the legacy of Cistercian Romanesque architecture in Asturias.
