1

Urban area

The town center of Segura de la Sierra is a network of steep and quiet streets that preserve the soul of its medieval past. Some, like the Calle de los Santiaguistas, are staggered and open their way from the picturesque Arco de Cavalcavia. This environment, which invites to a leisurely stroll and contemplation, was declared a Historic-Artistic Site in 1972 for its valuable architectural heritage, its unique beauty and impeccable state of preservation, making it one of the most evocative centers of the Sierra de Jaén.
2

Statue of Jorge Manrique

In Segura de la Sierra stands a statue in honor of Jorge Manrique, famous poet of the fifteenth century and author of the famous Coplas por la muerte de su padre. This sculpture commemorates his literary legacy and his deep bond with the town, where he spent part of his life. The figure stands in a monumental setting, framing a silent tribute to the author who transformed grief into universal poetry. Its symbolic presence recalls the value of memory, tradition and art that still resonates among the cobblestone streets of the village.
3

Castle

Today converted into the Historical Interpretation Center of the Order of Santiago, the castle of Segura de la Sierra is one of its main heritage attractions. This fortress, which stands on the top of the hill dominating the whole environment, was key in the medieval defensive system and retains much of its original structure. From its towers and walls you can get spectacular views of the Sierra de Segura, offering a unique cultural and scenic experience.
4

Wall

Important remains of the medieval wall of Segura de la Sierra, which protected the urban center, are still preserved. Several defensive towers and well-preserved walls can be clearly distinguished, as well as the four original access gates to the town: the Nueva, the Gontar, the Catena and the Orcera. These elements, in addition to their architectural value, allow us to imagine the defensive function that the walled enclosure fulfilled and evoke the strategic role of Segura as a stronghold in the history of the Kingdom of Castile.
