POI

On the outskirts of Roda de Isábena, is the hermitage dedicated to the Virgen del Pilar. It is located in some threshing floors to the south, from where you can see the Cathedral of Roda. The views from there to the Sierra de Sis are also very popular. It was built in the 17th century. It is a church with a single nave, semicircular chevet and facing NW, with access at the foot, preceded by a portico. It is built in masonry and covered with a gable roof of slabs. The door, voussoired in wide pieces and of medium radius, is flanked by two small windows with lintel, jambs and stone parapet, each element in one piece, decorated with a bevel on the edge. The illumination is completed with oculus at the feet and window with arquillo on the west side, next to the chancel. In the interior, the nave is covered with a half barrel vault, and the chancel with a quarter sphere vault. The facing is plastered and whitewashed. Over the door, there is a stone plaque with a legend that reads: "Catalogued as original construction". Popular Architecture, Modern Age S.XVII It is not known if the date of the plate refers to its construction, or to the Portico, which seems to have been built after the hermitage In the last years the cover of the portico has been restored.
