The Prior's Palace and the Torre Gorda
1

The Prior's Palace and the Torre Gorda

Behind the cathedral is the 16th century Prior's Palace, built on the site of the former abbey. It is a private residence with a three-story rectangular tower of masonry and ashlars. It has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest. Nearby, the 11th century Torre Gorda was dismantled in the 18th century to reuse its materials. Today it retains its circular base, an accessible lower room and an artistic intervention with the phrase: "This path does not lead to a foreseeable end". It offers views of the cemetery and the natural surroundings.

Plaza del Portal and Portal de Santa Ana

Roda de Isábena, in the Ribagorza region, was a strategic enclave since Roman times. In the 8th century it passed under Muslim rule and in the 10th century it became a fortified square and episcopal see. Its cathedral, declared a Historic-Artistic Monument, still presides over this medieval ensemble, today a Site of Cultural Interest. The Portal de Santa Ana, a covered passageway under a house, leads to the Plaza del Portal, from where the surrounding mountains can be admired and the grandeur of this town, one of the most beautiful in Spain, can be sensed.
Plaza Mayor

Plaza Mayor

The Plaza Mayor of Roda de Isábena houses the cathedral of San Vicente, the oldest in Aragon and one of the smallest in Spain. Of Lombard Romanesque origin and built in the 10th century, it was enlarged over the centuries and declared a National Monument in 1924. In its surroundings are preserved masonry houses with semicircular arches, a Romanesque cloister with funerary inscriptions and an oil mill of the eighteenth century. The complex is completed with a hotel and restaurant integrated in the old Episcopal hostelry.

The Ereta Viewpoint. Roda de Isábena

The Mirador de la Ereta offers a northern Mediterranean landscape with oaks, holm oaks, olive trees, pines and scrubland. It is ideal for spotting local wildlife such as Egyptian vultures, owls, bearded vultures, wild boar or roe deer. Without pollution, insects such as fireflies and butterflies abound. From here you can see villages in the municipality of Isábena and mountain ranges such as Sis or Turbón. This environment stands out for its natural, monumental and geological wealth, witness of 65 million years of living history.
Museum of La Era de Vicen
5

Museum of La Era de Vicen

Located in an old traditional Ribagorzan house, the Era de Vicen Museum shows how rural life used to be. The cobbled threshing floor, where cereals were threshed, retains its original structure. In its surroundings there are agricultural implements, a wine press and unique views. On the first floor there is a collection of antique utensils and objects; upstairs, a private display of more than 500 model ships and airplanes. Everything reflects the agricultural and artisan culture of Roda de Isábena.
The Paseo de Los Canónigos and the Roda Wall
6

The Paseo de Los Canónigos and the Roda Wall

The wall of Roda, visible from afar due to its elevated location, can be visited thanks to the Paseo de los Canónigos. This enclave was born as a Roman fortress, destroyed in 907, giving way to new towers and the cathedral in 957. The original castle was not rebuilt, but the wall was partially restored and is now protected as an Asset of Cultural Interest. From this walk starts the Camino Rotense, a hiking route that allows you to know corners that for centuries traveled the pilgrims of the county of Ribagorza.
