This 5 km itinerary crosses four railway bridges, jewels of the metallic engineering of the Industrial Revolution with great historical value. The route starts at the Puentedey viewpoint, offering views of the natural arch, the Fernández de Brizuela Palace and the Church of San Pelayo. The Bridge of the Basques

Leaving the tunnel, the early 20th century railroad trench opens up 80 meters long and 15 meters deep. Its sedimentary walls are a paleontological treasure that houses fossils of micro and macrovertebrates in various stratigraphic levels. The place invites you to discover millenary remains and enjoy its natural spring, while the bridge offers unique views of the gorge, the Nela River and the road.
The Villavés Bridge

The Villavés Bridge

The route ends at km 2.638, at the spectacular Villavés bridge. From its height you can see Peña Ladrero and a dense native forest inhabited by birds of prey, roe deer and squirrels. Crossing the Nela river again, its course begins its journey towards the Ebro to meet the sea in Tarragona. The return to Puentedey by the eastern slope allows to enjoy a renewed perspective of the landscape.

We continue walking on the comfortable floor of the greenway along the natural path with a flat surface to cross the waters of the river Nela and take a short break. We are just over 2 kms from the beginning and the beech forest of Leva invites us for a next time to enjoy the secret garden of the Merindad de Valdeporres.
