Located two kilometers from Pastrana is the Convent of Carmen, a former Discalced Carmelite foundation for men, which today houses a magnificent collection of paintings and sculptures in the primitive church and cloister, with works by the Neapolitans Luca Giordano and Paolo de Matteis, the chamber painter of King Charles II, Juan Carreño de Miranda, the Madrid artists Juan Antonio de Frias y Escalante and Alonso de Arco, and of course the impressive carving of Gregorio Fernandez, the Christ of Truth.
