Mirador del Castillo

Here is located a viewpoint with a frontal view to the sea that complements the one enjoyed from the viewpoint of the Plaza Nueva. It was a watchtower and stronghold. Only a cistern is preserved, of Muslim origin, which currently houses an Art Center. The castle was built in the thirteenth century, renovated after the Christian conquest and again after the earthquake suffered in 1518. It was losing prominence as the danger of Moorish incursions disappeared, although, in the eighteenth century it still had a warden, appointed by the House of Alba. In the middle of the last century, was rebuilt on its ruins, by the Colombian pianist Enrique Arias, an auditorium where international music festivals were held.
