Church of Santa María la Mayor
Icon of Ledesma next to the river and its bridges, this church contains 900 years of history. Erected in the 13th century as a Romanesque temple, it evolved with Gothic, Renaissance and neoclassical elements. Its altarpiece, dedicated to the Assumption, stands out for its neoclassical style with a baroque floor plan. The shell-shaped apse recalls the works of Rodrigo Gil de Hontañón. Next to the transept is the tomb of the infant Don Sancho, grandson of King Alfonso X the Wise.
