1

Church of Our Lady of the Assumption (XVIII century)

The parish church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, located in the center of La Alberca, is the most architecturally significant building in the municipality. It was built in 1730 by the architect Manuel de Lara Churriguera, nephew of the famous Alberto Churriguera. Of baroque style with a tendency to neoclassical, its Latin cross plan houses chapels such as the Cristo del Sudor and the Virgen de los Dolores. Its magnificent 16th century pulpit, carved in polychrome stone, stands out. The tower, with the coat of arms of the Dukes of Alba, houses a sacristy and an ossuary with skulls, linked to the tradition of the Moza de Ánimas.
2

Historical Complex

Nestled in the Sierra de Altamiras, surrounded by pines, oaks and chestnut trees, stands a unique temple of the fifteenth century: the Ermita de la Santa Cruz. Only 4 kilometers from Guadalupe, this small Gothic construction, with a square floor plan, is reminiscent in its structure of the famous temple of the Royal Monastery. Declared a National Monument in 1931, it stands out for its architectural details on each of its faces. Its privileged location and its harmonious integration into the natural landscape make this hermitage a haven of peace and spirituality in the heart of Extremadura's nature.
3

Plaza Mayor

The Plaza Mayor of La Alberca is an emblematic rectangular enclosure that preserves, to a large extent, its original layout. Surrounded by arcades supported by wooden arches or stone columns, it houses traditional buildings of two to four floors. This harmonious combination of popular architecture gives it a unique charm. In its center are located a fountain and an eighteenth-century cross, moved from the Tablado in 1940. This space, the heart of the village, is witness to the daily life and the main celebrations of one of the most beautiful villages of the Sierra de Francia.
4

Sanctuary of the Virgin of La Virgen de la Peña de Francia, El Cabaco

The Sanctuary of the Virgen de la Peña de Francia, in the municipality of El Cabaco, is an imposing 15th century building that houses a monastery and a guest house founded by the Benedictines, today managed by the Dominican order. An image found, according to legend, by Simón Vela in a nearby grotto in 1434 is venerated in the church. The whole is organized around a square of the 18th century presided over by a jurisdictional roll. Highlights include the 15th-century convent door, the Chapel of La Blanca - erected over the cave of the discovery - and the Balcón de Santiago, visible from the porch that connects the two buildings.
