La Carrasca de Culla

"On the appointed day it sprouted under the stars and, after thousands of years, grew and grew and became immortal. Its huge arms served as shelter for entire armies, it was then that the locals knew it was magic." The famous Carrasca de Culla is a majestic botanical jewel that was declared a monumental tree of the Valencian Community. It is about 20 meters high, 7 meters in circumference of the trunk, 35 meters in diameter of the branches and an estimated weight of 75 tons. Legend has it that, during the Carlist Wars, a company of the army took shelter, at night, under its foliage. It is located in the Masía Clapés, located on the road from La Torre d' En Besora to Culla, 4 km from the municipality. It is a place of obliged visit, since nobody remains indifferent before the millenarian holm oak.
