Cape Vidio
NATURALCabo Vidio is a geographical feature of the coast of Cudillero, in the parish of Oviñana, formed by a large coastal ledge with cliffs that exceed 100 meters high in some sections. It is located in front of the Bay of Biscay, in a very prominent point of the western coast of Asturias, next to the lighthouse of Cabo Vidio, which acts as a visual and scenic reference of the environment. The most striking feature of the place are its open views over the cliff line, the sea and the small coves and inlets of the coast. From the viewpoint you get a wide panoramic view of the coast, especially appreciated at sunset. Also noteworthy is the Iglesiona, a marine cavity modeled by wave erosion, which can be seen at low tide and summarizes well the dynamic character of this stretch of coastline. Its interest is not only scenic: all this strip is part of the Protected Landscape of the West Coast, a figure of protection that underlines its environmental and geological value. Cabo Vidio is one of the best known natural points of the council of Cudillero and appears regularly in the tourist guides of Asturias for the combination of cliffs, lighthouse, coastal geology and seascape.
