Museum of the Casa Chacinera de Candelario (Candelario Sausage House)
The chacinera house is a very particular form of traditional architecture found in the town of Candelario. It is a building that combines two main uses under the same roof: housing and sausage factory. The slaughter was carried out in the street and in the slaughterhouse the meat was minced, marinated and stuffed into casings to make the sausages. In all these tasks many young men and women participated, not only in Candelario, but also from other villages in the region, such as La Garganta and El Tremedal, so that during the slaughter time the slaughter houses would become a bustling hive of people.
