Santísimo Cristo del Refugio Chapel
Iglesia / ErmitaThe Ermita del Santísimo Cristo del Refugio is a hermitage or small temple of worship located at the entrance of Candelario, in the province of Salamanca, in a large esplanade presided over by the Cruz de término. Its exact location corresponds to Candelario (Castilla y León), at coordinates 40.36704, -5.74317. It is a building with a single nave topped by a rectangular main chapel. The tradition and the patrimonial descriptions point out as an outstanding element its altarpiece, coming according to the oral tradition from the Dominican convent of Béjar and transferred to the hermitage after the Disentailment; other sources describe it as a wooden altarpiece of baroque or rococo character. The chronology is not totally uniform in the sources consulted: it is widely placed between the XV and XVIII centuries, while other references relate it to the XVIII century. In any case, it is part of the religious and devotional landscape of Candelario, where the Cristo del Refugio maintains a strong link with the local community and with the historical entrance to the town.

Church of Our Lady of the Assumption
Iglesia / ErmitaThe Church of Our Lady of the Assumption of Candelario is the main parish church of the town, located in the historic center of Candelario, in the province of Salamanca, Castilla y León, at coordinates 40.36829, -5.74432. The heritage file and municipal documentation identify it as the most outstanding religious building in the village, although in some tourist sources it is also generically referred to as a hermitage. It is a temple of complex construction, with a wide chronology between the XIV and XVIII centuries according to the consulted informative sources. The Town Council of Candelario indicates that in its construction Mudejar, Baroque, Romanesque and Gothic styles are mixed, so it must be understood as a building of historical evolution and not as a work of a single stage. Among its documented elements, its monumental scale within the urban fabric and the interior organization in three naves separated by large semicircular arches stand out, according to municipal information. Local historical tradition also indicates that the building underwent reconstruction after a partial collapse in the 17th century, a fact that explains part of its current appearance. Due to its chronology, its stylistic mix and its role as a religious and patrimonial reference of Candelario, the church is one of the most representative landmarks of the historical complex of the municipality, recognized as an asset of cultural interest.

MuseoThe Museo de la Casa Chacinera de Candelario is an ethnographic museum located in Candelario, Salamanca, in a former sausage house linked to the local tradition of sausage making. Its specific location at Calle Perales, 3, coincides with the historic center of the town, at the coordinates provided for this heritage resource. The official tourist sources of Castilla y León place it as a space that shows the basic way of life of Candelario in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, with special attention to daily life and the activity linked to the production of sausages. The setting is made with original furniture and belongings donated by the neighbors, which reinforces its value as a material testimony of the local domestic and productive culture. In the regional tourist documentation, it is also described as an interpretive center or house museum dedicated to explaining the economic and social importance of the sausage industry in Candelario, an activity that made the town famous in the 18th and 19th centuries. The resource is thus integrated into the heritage reading of the traditional architecture of Candelario, where housing and work space shared functions in the same building. There is no precise date of construction of the building in the sources consulted; it is indicated that the museum recreates an environment of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, with interpretive references around 1920. Therefore, the piece of heritage should be understood as an ethnographic museum installed in a traditional house linked to the pork industry, rather than as an architectural monument of singular style documented in these files.
