Stops

4 stop(s) in this experience

1

Chapel of Our Lady of the Snows

Located in the neighborhood of La Villa, this small and humble chapel is the spiritual center of Bulnes. With its traditional stone architecture and its gabled roof, it keeps the image of the patron saint of the village. Every August 5th, the local festivity is celebrated here, a unique moment where neighbors and mountaineers meet in an environment surrounded by the highest peaks of the Cantabrian mountain range.
2

Historic district

Bulnes is divided into two neighborhoods: La Villa and El Castillo. Its streets know no asphalt; they are stone paths flanked by traditional Asturian houses with thick walls and flowers on the balconies. This village, once one of the most isolated in Spain, maintains intact its rural and mountainous essence, offering absolute peace where the only sound is the water of the river and nature.
3

Subway funicular

Opened in 2001, this 2.2 km tunnel dug in the bowels of the mountain ended centuries of isolation. In just 7 minutes, it bridges a 400-meter drop connecting Poncebos with Bulnes. It is an impressive work of engineering that allows access to this paradise without making the hard walk through the Canal del Tejo, facilitating the life of the neighbors and the arrival of visitors.
4

Naranjo de Bulnes viewpoint.

A few minutes walk from the neighborhood of El Castillo, this viewpoint offers a privileged view of the mythical Picu Urriellu. The imposing limestone mass rises in front of the viewer, showing its most famous face. It is the perfect place to contemplate the magnitude of the Picos de Europa and understand why this peak is the cradle of Spanish mountaineering and the dream of any climber.
