Church of San Blas (XIII century)

1. Church of San Blas (XIII century)

The church of San Blas, built in the 13th century, is a sober Romanesque temple with a single rectangular nave divided into nine bays by pointed diaphragm arches resting on simple pilasters. The building, made of masonry with ashlars in openings and arches, is covered by a gable roof with tiles directly over the vault. Its sacristy, located on the gospel side, stands out: a quadrangular room with a pointed barrel vault, reinforced by an intermediate sash arch resting on corbels. Its austere beauty reflects the purest medieval architecture.
Castle and keep

2. Castle and keep

Raised on a mound of reddish earth, the medieval castle of Anento is documented as early as 1357, when it resisted a Castilian attack. Its eastern flank, still standing, has 30 meters of wall with battlements, arrow slits and two twin towers with pointed vaults. A natural moat protects it and diverts rainwater. The main gate, semicircular, stood on a drawbridge. Although partially demolished, it is one of the most unique minor castles of Aragon, probably from the 14th century.
Historical Complex

3. Historical Complex

Anento was part of the 106 places of the Community of Daroca until its dissolution in 1834. It was first mentioned in 1357, when it was burned by Castilian troops without managing to conquer its castle. It still preserves its wall with twin towers. The Romanesque church of San Blas (13th century) stands out for its Gothic altarpieces and 14th century frescoes. The village has a medieval layout with sloping streets and pointed doorways. The main altarpiece was the work of Blasco de Grañén. Anento has a valuable historical, artistic and urban legacy.
Peirones

4. Peirones

The Peirón de la Virgen del Pilar, restored in Mudejar style, stands on the old road to Lechón. It consists of concrete base, decorated brick trunk and edicule with exuberant cornices, topped by iron cross. The Virgen del Rosario, next to the watercourse towards Báguena, has a similar structure: concrete base, trunk with tile crosses and a small building with arches and a pyramidal top. In the Campo de Daroca, the dedications to the Virgen del Pilar, San Antonio de Padua and the Via Crucis stand out.
