Silo Viewpoint

1. Silo Viewpoint

The National Silo Network was established in 1944, with units strategically located according to communication nodes and railroad lines. Its objective was to purchase the entire wheat harvest, establish a national reserve, facilitate imports and exports, and guarantee the treatment and selection of seeds. The Almagro silo, in operation since 1968, is the most imposing building of the twentieth century in the city, comparable in visual impact with the great churches. From its viewpoint you get panoramic views of Almagro and a unique image of the volcanic areas. An experience to discover Almagro "from a bird's eye view".
Views from the Tower, San Agustin Church

2. Views from the Tower, San Agustin Church

The church of San Agustín, from the 18th century, is one of the most outstanding examples of Baroque architecture in Ciudad Real. Its single nave, presided over by an imposing dome, creates a visual axis that culminates in the presbytery, where a typical Hispanic Baroque dressing room opens. Its pictorial decoration moves the visitor with an iconographic cycle full of symbols: hearts with arrows, bundles of wheat, grapes, suns and moons, in clear allusion to the title of the convent. These elements enclose a deep religious meaning that is revealed when entering the temple. From its tower you can enjoy beautiful views of the Plaza Mayor and its surroundings. A visual gift that deserves to be part of the itinerary.
Panoramic view of the Plaza Mayor

3. Panoramic view of the Plaza Mayor

Almagro's Plaza Mayor is rectangular in plan, although irregular, formed by two flanks with colonnades of Tuscan stone columns that support running galleries. Originally open to the outside and for public use, today they are glazed in a Central European style that makes it unique in Spain. These galleries served as a tribune for festive and religious events, such as the old bullfights held until 1785, when they were banned by Charles III. They were accessed by stairs from Calle del Toril and Callejón del Villar, or by doors hidden in the arcades. These are supported by 81 stone columns with wooden footings, many with capitals raised by wedges to bridge the unevenness of the architrave. On one of its flanks is the famous Corral de Comedias, unique in the world, declared a monument in 1955. From the benches on the opposite side, you can enjoy an unparalleled panoramic view, with Diego de Almagro in the background.
Pradillo del Conde de Valdeparaíso

4. Pradillo del Conde de Valdeparaíso

Quiet garden open to the public, ideal for strolling or resting in the middle of the city, with privileged views of the majestic Palace of the Counts of Valdeparaíso. This palace, located in the noble neighborhood of Almagro, was ordered to be built as a place of retreat and rest by this influential aristocratic family. Its imposing facade is contemplated from the peace of a landscaped space, spacious, shaded and away from the hustle and bustle of the nearby Plaza Mayor. A perfect place to disconnect, breathe tranquility and admire the architectural details of the building. The beauty of its classical lines, the stately bearing of its structure and its perfect integration into the urban environment make it a heritage jewel. To the left of the garden, stands the Palace of the Marquises of Torremejía, another valuable testimony of the local nobility. This monumental complex offers visitors a unique experience between history, art and nature.
Villar Alley

5. Villar Alley

On the north side of the square opens the alley of Villar, short distance, but enough to admire the structure of the construction of the houses, columns and capitals, windows with bars, portals and arcades added. At the end of this alley is the Lace Museum. Beautiful museum that shows the unique lace craftsmanship of Almagro. The beautiful views of the Plaza Mayor from this alley, give you a moment of peace and isolation, in one of the most beautiful alleys of the city.
Santo Domingo Square

6. Santo Domingo Square

Plazuela located in the Noble zone of the city, lets see the beauty of some of the facades of the most emblematic palaces of the city. Located in Bernardas street, priviliegiadas views from the lamppost located in the middle of it. Recommended to see at night with an elegant and stately lighting.
