POI

Ermita de la Victòria The hermitage is located about 7 km. from the center of Alcúdia, in an environment of great natural and scenic value, between pine trees and sea with spectacular views over the bay of Pollença, fully protected. The first known hermits in Alcúdia date back to the 14th century with the alchemist hermit Fray Diego. This small temple remained as a place of worship associated with the image of the Virgin Mare de Déu de la Victòria de las Germanies. In the oratory you can still appreciate the characteristic defensive character of the first building, which was erected during the XVII-XVIII centuries. The lower floor is occupied by the church with a single nave whose entrance is through a rectangular portal, with side chapels. Covered with a baroque barrel vault, like the altarpiece, with a dressing room where you can venerate the image of the Virgin, polychrome carving of the fifteenth century, probably brought to the place by Fray Diego himself, (legend has it that a shepherd named Jordi Boi found the image of the Virgin among the bushes). In the upper part of the hermitage we find the completely renovated guest house. The Victoria festivities are held on July 1 and 2. For the locals are celebrations full of feeling, where they dance the traditional "Ball de Bot", the council invites to "rum cremat" and fritters late at night, and ending with the traditional offering of sprigs of chamomile. The hermitage of La Victòria is also the starting point of several hiking trails with a moderate degree of difficulty, we highlight the ascent to Penya des Migdia and Talaia d'Alcúdia.
