Aínsa is a village located in the Sobrarbe region and corresponds to the ancient Kingdom or County of the same name, which arose more than a millennium ago, in the north of the province of Huesca.
In its beginnings, it consisted of a castle, much smaller than the current one and separated from the village, and a walled enclosure formed by the streets and the church of San Salvador (now disappeared) and the church of Santa Maria, of which three gates of its layout are preserved, dating from the eleventh or twelfth centuries.
