Easter Week in Chinchón

Chinchón lives an Easter Week centered on the Living Passion, the oldest theatrical representation of the Community of Madrid (since 1963) and declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest. On Holy Saturday at dusk, more than 250 residents walk the streets of the town in a two-hour spectacle that turns Chinchón into a period Jerusalem. The representation passes through the Plaza Mayor, the Calle de la Amargura and the Calvary to the church. The rest of the week there are processions of the brotherhoods (Cristo de la Gracia, Jesús Nazareno, Virgen de la Soledad) and on Good Friday all the processions are concentrated in the Plaza Mayor.
