The Passion of Chinchón
Festival of Tourist Interest20:00 - 22:30
On Holy Saturday at dusk the Living Passion is represented in Chinchón, the oldest in the Community of Madrid (since 1963) and declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest. More than 250 residents act in eight scenes that run through the historic center: the Last Supper at the Town Hall, the arrest in the Plaza de San Roque, the trial of Pontius Pilate, the three falls, the crucifixion and the descent, and the Resurrection in the church of Nuestra Señora de la Asunción, where Christ ascends the facade amid white smoke and doves. The performance lasts about an hour and a half and usually attracts between 15,000 and 20,000 spectators.
Important notices
The historic center will be closed to traffic all Holy Saturday. Additional parking will be provided in addition to the usual ones.
